While this is a helpful tool for looking at investment value, keep in mind that businesses are unique. To determine market value, you should also consider all the tangible and intangible assets (also known as business or book value). Intangible property can include: patents, trademarks, other assets, residual income, reputation, workers, contracts, copyrights and goodwill. Tangible property consists of real and personal property.
